Hanford, WA
Since moving to Seattle almost six years ago, I have heard several mentions of the Hanford Downwinders. I knew this group had suffered medical problems related to some kind of nuclear facility, but until today I had never knew that the Hanford site was the source of the plutonium for the bomb exploded over Nagasaki. Interesting links - thanks. I could have associated Hanford with the Manhattan project (along with Oak Ridge,TN, doing uranium enrichment) because I wrote a paper on the Manhattan Project back in high school. It was something like eight pages of awesome insights on erasable bond (typewriters - look 'em up, young'uns).
I just read "Snowball" about Warren Buffett, wherein the author felt compelled to footnote what whiteout was and explain in excruciating detail. I felt old.
